Meet Rupert, the Beagle cross Cavalier at the spritely age of 12 years.
This big handsome boy is looking for a retirement home where he can lounge his days away after a big breakfast, on a comfy couch or fluffy bed, potter around with you in the garden, maybe go for a walk and show people how handsome he is.
He is a big boy at 20kgs, very strong on his lead when walking, so you will need to have experience with big dog energy and weight! He loves to sit near you, next to you or on you, on the couch, however he can get a little jealous if there is another canine friend trying to share your cuddle time so he would love to be the spoilt only child. Setting boundaries and rules for Rupert will see him thrive.
He will need a very secure yard with access to indoors when you go out, or the ability to stay inside while you aren’t home as napping is also one of his favorite past times… or better yet, let him come too, he’s very much a fan of car rides.
He is not a boy who likes to be on his own outside, his anxiety levels will increase and he just doesn’t cope well, he frets, barks and drools, the panic for him is real as his heart breaks thinking you won’t be back – staying inside with a couch is great, radio or TV on too.
He is great with dog savvy cats, he is very well mannered with food, doesn’t try to eat anyone else’s while they are still eating, but does love snacks too.
He will need a little more help with his toilet training in a new house if there are other canine pals. He knocks on the back door to let you know if he needs to go out and also when he needs to come back in.
A big softie is what this boy is, if you are looking for a gentle giant for a companion in a quiet relaxed adult household, Rupert could be for you.
