Benny – 10.5yrs, Victoria – No Further Applications

Big boy Benny is a sweet big boy who is looking for his forever humans to save.

Benny is looking for a forever home that has someone around a lot ie retired or work from home (even after Covid Lockdown), as he loves to be around his humans either watching them or napping near them.  He loves food more than life itself and that’s what got him into the shape he was in.

Benny came into care at a whopping 25kgs and has since lost over 10% of his body weight but still has a little way to go, so his new humans must not be feeders, they need to understand that he will need a healthy diet, regular daily walks and not fall for those big beautiful eyes that beg for food. He will never be a small boy, but he should be around 13-15kg for his frame. He is quite the vigorous exerciser with his tennis ball on a rope and swinging it around its one of his favorite playtime things to do.

He is absolutely an indoorsy boy but will need continual consistent positive reinforcement training with his toileting, he is coming along in leaps and bounds and mastered the doggie door in 2 seconds flat (yes he can fit through), but being in a new environment there may be a chance of a few accidents.

We are pretty sure he is deaf so you will need to be able to live with a dog that will need visual training to do things – having said that his favorite things to do are potter around the back yard and sleep. He can be a little chatty when you leave the house, only because he thinks he should be coming along too, he would also be very happy with a little canine friend too.

Benny has no heart issues at this stage, he is quite the delicate little boy, we thought he had hurt his knee in care, but it turns out he is just a bit dramatic. He will not be able to jump up or down off couches or beds as his body weight is just too much for his joints, but he is very happy with a fluffy doggo bed to nap on.
